Red Bench Bakery is a family owned cafe in downtown Chaska and Excelsior, Minnesota specializing in classic American and French pastries, breads and other sweet treats. We are passionate about supporting local businesses and building community through food.

Red Bench Bakery Excelsior is also located in a historic building that once housed a gas station, laundromat, and former bakery before being updated to our classic Chaska “look”. The Excelsior location is right on Water Street two blocks up from Lake Minnetonka. We have a relaxing patio that has over 20 seats for you to enjoy the bustling lake community.

Chef and owner Andy Mooney opened Red Bench Bakery after over 20 years of experience running kitchens and baking in hotels, restaurants, bakeries and local markets around Minnesota. He further refined his skills at the French Pastry school in Chicago graduating from the renowned L”Art de la Patisserie program in 2007. Inspired by French technique and Midwestern hospitality, Mooney opened Red Bench Bakery in 2017 to provide the local community with a gathering place and exceptional pastries. Red Bench Bakery is owned and operated by Andy Mooney, wife Kjirsten, brother-in-law Andrew Aske and a team of exceptional local bakers and servers.
